Dr. Ming Wang is a Harvard and MIT graduate and one of the few laser eye surgeons in the world to also hold a PhD in laser physics. His extraordinary life story—from a childhood shaped by China’s Cultural Revolution to becoming a world-renowned eye surgeon and follower of Christ—has inspired the feature film Sight, based on his autobiography From Darkness to Sight.

美国的哈佛大学是国际著名的大学，能够进入哈佛大学就读是许多学子的梦想。而进入哈佛大学医学院的竞争则更为激烈。在国际华裔眼科医师中有一位颇具传奇色彩的人物。他在当年的全美国医学院入学考试中以总分最高分的成绩被哈佛大学医学院录取，并在毕业时获得优等生奖，不仅如此，他的毕业论文发表在世界最著名的学术杂志之一《Nature》上。他不仅取得了美国激光物理博士学位,并且在美国最好的眼科住院医生训练医院Wills眼科医院完成了residency以及在全美名列第一的眼科医院完成了角膜专科训练(cornea and refractive surgery fellowship). 这些成绩似乎已经足够精彩，但这些仅仅是王明旭医师成绩的一部分。他是世界上为数不多的同时具有激光物理博士学位的眼科医师之一，他率先在国际上开展了数种屈光手术，他建立了帮助盲人复明的基金会。令人难以相信的是他竟然还是全美国际交谊舞明星赛的名次得主，是所在的田纳西州华人商会 的发起人和主席，并是一位很好的钢琴和二胡演奏者。这一切成绩似乎超出了常人的能力，甚至某种程度上超出了常人的想象力。当问起他何以将如此多的工作和技能融于一身时，王明旭医师说“我喜欢把所做的事情做好，在困难和疲惫时热情会促使我尽力发挥自己的潜力，我也喜欢通过不断的努力来提高自己，这种不断超越自我的过程给我带来乐趣。”在与他的交流中可以感觉到，如他所言，他的成绩来源于勤奋、努力、不懈的热情和追求完美。
